Dandre Owens, 29, allegedly shot the victim in the back of the head at the property in late January, using a firearm equipped with a silencer.

Authorities found the woman on a bed, according to Las Vegas TV station KLAS. The sheets were covered in blood. She was wearing only a pair of socks covering her feet.

Police later identified the murdered woman as Brittani Bailey, 29.

The brutal incident came to light after an unnamed man called the (LVMPD) at 2 a.m. on January 29 and asked them to do a welfare check.

He had talked to Bailey at 10 p.m. on January 28. But when he repeatedly called her back, there was no answer. He also told police which room she was staying at in the MGM Grand.

LVMPD officers alerted casino security guards. They went to the room and continually knocked on the door and called out. There was no response. Music was playing in the room.

Security guards then opened the door. Bailey’s still body was on the bed. She was declared dead a short time later. Her death later was ruled to be a following an .

Mystery Person Rented Room

As the case was investigated, police determined an unknown person had registered at the hotel and was given a key card for the room on January 28. Owens had placed an online ad for someone to book a hotel room and he hired the mystery person for an undisclosed amount of money.

That individual gave Owens the key card at about 4 p.m. on January 28.

About five hours later, Bailey used a rideshare car to get to the MGM Grand. She met Owens by the elevators. The duo went up to the hotel room.

Owens left the hotel later. He then got into a rideshare car himself.

LVMPD officers were able to later identify Owens as the suspect in the murder. They located him on Sunday in a South Pecos Road parking lot in Las Vegas. He was taken into custody.

When searching him, officers found a silencer, firearm, and a magazine. He allegedly told police his name was “John Doe.” He had several fake IDs, too, police said.

Later, he told police his correct name.

Owens claimed he found the gun and silencer in the desert. But when police searched Owens house, they located four other silencers and ammo, KLAS reported.

Victim s ID Found on Owens

He also denied killing Bailey. But when officers searched his wallet, they found Bailey’s Social Security Card, police said.

Owens has been charged with open murder with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of a silencer/suppressor, obtaining and using personal identification of another to avoid/delay prosecution, theft, forgery, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

No motive has been released in the case.

Owens remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center. No bail was set.
